September means Kids are Special in Kentucky

Kentucky PTA Kids' Day was established in 1985 to set aside one day just for our students.

The goal is to send the message to each child that he or she is a special and unique individual who is respected and loved. Kentucky PTA Kids' Day also serves as a day to make the public aware of the educational and personal needs of children and the role they play as our most important natural resource. If you can't celebrate on the "official" day hold a Kids Day event when it fits into your calendar.

On the last Tuesday in September, September 28, North Oldham Middle School makes sure each and every kids knows they are special by celebration Kentucky Kids Day.

For more information or to volunteer, please contact Nancy Stevens. Contact information listed on right hand scroll of website.

Looking for parents to be a Secret Pal

The Secret Pal Program is in need of secret pals for the staff of NOMS. To be a secret pal, all you have to do is think of a teacher once a month and send in a small token of appreciation - something like their favorite soda, or treat.

If you are interested in being a secret pal for one of the staff please contact Lyne Church at lynechurch@bellsouth.net or 228-5195 to find out who is still in need of a secret pal. This program runs September-May. The PTSA asks that the secret pal send in a “token” gift once a month to say “THANKS” to their staff person for all they do. It’s an easy way to make someone’s day a LOT brighter!

Dance - a Huge Success!

Thank you , Thank you, Thank you!!! The dance was great! No kudos to me please. It was the incredible group of over 31 volunteers. Simply amazing to see so many enthusiastic parents who spent their Friday evening helping, so the kids could have fun. A huge credit to Rhonda Spangler (last years Chair person) for keeping such detailed records and passing them on. I could not have possibly pulled this together without them. Pauline Moore, Thanks for creating such a wonderful spread sheet listing all the volunteers. That was also a huge help.

There were an estimated 375 kids at the dance. We sold almost every item in the concession stand.

I hope you all will consider the Spring dance. Between now and then I plan to tweak a couple of things and make it even better. Any suggestions are not only welcome but encouraged. Have a great year!

Sincerely,

Mary Kay Simpson

Just a reminder to parents and kids...all students need to be in dress code at all school functions - including school dances. Dress code states all shorts and skirts must go down to at least 3 inches above the knee - not any shorter. Thanks!
